Something To Write About
Hello World
This is my first post on this blog, for which I would like to say hello to all who visit this blog.
I hope to have time to be able to write a lot about all the things that are useful with this blog
Getting to Know You ~ Awesome Followers!
I have a couple really awesome things to start out with before we jump to today's survey.
1st.... I am on J.A. Bennet's blog today so come and say "hi" and get a good laugh from this interview. And thanks for having me Jennie. I still can't believe I'm letting you post that picture! And - I am over at Cristina's talking about "VOICE!" Hope you will stop by! And this should answer the question... YES - it is possible to be in more than one place at once!
2nd... I have made it to 200 FOLLOWERS and beyond! I am stoked! When I started this blog a little under 3 months ago I never thought I'd get this many followers. You guys are the best and I appreciate you sharing the love and leaving your comments! I hope you will participate in the survey today so I can get to know you even more AND be sure to click on the "What's in a Name?" button on the side or tab at the top so you can enter to WIN a prize. I LOVE MY FOLLOWERS! GROUP HUG!
3rd... I just got awesome news that I won the chocolate contest at Sher A Hart's blog! (get it?) So it pays to love chocolate. She either sends you $10 in chocolate OR a $10 gift card. So cool! I went for the gift card so I can hit the bakery for some double chocolate brownies! Thanks Sher!
4th... I won Not My Type by Melanie Jacobson FROM Melanie Jacobson! How cool is that? I have been dying to read this book so I hope I can get through midterms quickly! So... it pays off to enter the giveaways!
Just to be festive for the month of October and Halloween, lets do today's poll about October! As for me... I truly LOVE October! Love it. In fact, I would have got married in October but my husband didn't want our anniversary to interfere with his hunting season. Yeah - MEN! There isn't much I don't love about this month. I think Halloween is a blast. I love to dress up my kids. I love to carve pumpkins, I love the weather - it is just right for me, and I love the beautiful landscape with the variety of colors. The only bad part would be the candy... my kids really don't need that much sugar! So... now it's your turn. Take the poll and be sure to leave some specifics in the comments too!

I Hate Adverbs!
Have I ever mentioned that I HATE
adverbs? Yep, hate 'em. And I don't care if I use them in my blogging.
WHY? Because I blog as I am - how I really talk - and we all talk with
adverbs. I am totally the Queen of Adverbs! Always using them.
However... they are a big NO-NO in our writing. Dang it! Did I mention I
seriously hate them?
Here
is a little chart to get you better aquainted with the horribly
dreadful adverbs. Bleh. I did get an awesome tip for identifying them in
your writing though....
* Do a word search with "LY_" (yeah that line means space.)
* Lots of adverbs end in LY. This will highlight them. You will probably be amazed at how many you use.
*
Don't just change them because other words end in "LY", like family. So
check it out to make sure it's an adverb before you make any changes.
* There are OTHER ways to "show-not-tell" - other than adverbs!
* Did I mention we should quit using adverbs?Want an EXAMPLE?
John slowly walked across the room. *VS* John couldn't help but drag his feet as he walked across the room.
OK.... quick side note. SOMETIMES, and I mean VERY FEW TIMES, which means PRACTICALLY NON-EXISTENT TIMES, we can use an adverb. This is LESS THAN RARELY! But just be careful. Editors, publishers and agents don't want to see them.
Ugh ~ I hate adverbs!
How do you feel about adverbs? Hopefully, you hate them too. Do you find them hard to steer away from or are you practiced enough that you don't use them?

They're Squirmy, They're Wormy. They're Purple and Green!
Anyway Aidan had his heart set on Moon Sand, this weird sandy shit that is somehow mold- able and also easy-to-get-all-over-the- carpet, so we got that crazy crap for him. I did my usual jaunt around the boy's section of Toys R Us to see if they had Creepy Crawlers, because they had them at Christmas and then I never saw them again-- and LO! they had them in all their squirmy wormy easy bake glory! So Jinx bought them for me as a class- ending gift.
I n ever had Creepy Crawlers as a kid. There's a lot of toys I never had, which I'll explore later on when I'm not freaking excited, but Creepy Crawlers are one of the toys I was denied because it was a "boy" toy and I was-- and still am-- a girl. So I laugh at my parents now, 20 years later. Victory is mine!
Jinx told me that when he was younger his older brother-- we'll call him "Joe", coz thats his name-- has Creepy Crawlers but Jinx wasn't allowed to play with them because they had METAL plates that can burn you when you remove them from the hot hot h eat. WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING! METAL PLATES! HOW'S YOUR NINTH DEGREE BURNS!!!!!! I googled this and sure as shit there they were-- a plate from 1965 of creepy crawler metal molds. DUMBASSES.
I'll update later with a picture of my creations. Fpr now enjoy these google searched images.

i can just smell the burnt flesh now!

Monster Mania Weekend Part 2: Blairstown, NJ
So... after the Monster Mania shenanigans were over we all decided to take a 2 hour detour to Blairstown, NJ, where the original Friday the 13th was filmed.
We got all the way there, and much like Benjamin Button, if we had just stopped for gas, or ate another croissant, we wouldn't have ran into the asshole old man in the yellow pickup truck telling us we couldn't go in to the camp, or even TAKE A PICTURE OF THE SIGN, because if we posted it anywhere the STATE OF NEW JERSEY would surely arrest us. Then he sat there and waited for us to leave.

Uh Oh New Jersey! I'm posting a picture of the sign!
(Welcome my ass.)
Not to be deterred, we went downtown. Those familiar with the movie will remember the scenery seen here:

Then we headed home... and got there at about 11pm, exhausted and happy from a great trip!
